did i damage my lower A-arm joint? (pic) Argentine Pass, "aggressive stock SUV"...

i attempted Argentine Pass (CO) today. the trail was much ROCKIER than i thought it would be.

could u check out this pic below(click the link) and see if i damaged the lower arm? (front passenger-side) i drove some 80 miles on the high way after the damage and it drove fine and nothing out of ordinary. it might just be a surface scratch.

i drove about one mile in the rockier section of the road (CO 248.1) that leads to Argentine Pass and i turned back because the road was much rockier with many sharp-edged rocks and i was afraid i might puncture the tire. i have a brand-new set of Micheline LTX MS/2. Charles Wells book I have rates this road as "moderate" with "agressive stock SUV. my 2006 t4r is completely stock. is my t4r considered as "agressive stock SUV"? Is my tire ok to use with "moderate" trails or do I need something more trail-rated?



I would really appreciate some opinion before I attempt this trail again. Before the snow falls anyways.

A stock 4Runner can handle anything blue in a Charles Wells book, and a couple of the reds too. But that doesn't mean you can handle them, and trail conditions can change. You were right to turn around if you were uncomfortable, especially if you were alone.

Those Michelins are great tires and fine for a little dirt, but offroad is not their specialty. If you're going to make a habit of seeking out harder trails, you might want to think about a good set of ATs.

That alignment tab looks a bit scuffed, but its just trail scuffs. You're all good.

Yeah I was going to say that you may have knocked your alignment out a bit with that, I'd have it checked. But otherwise that's nuffin'

Thanks for your advice! I will definitely consider new tires. I just replaced front shocks ($1500 at the dealership) two weeks ago but had I known this, i could've got me Billstein shocks! arg...

I'm considering an inch and a half of lift and some agressive AT tires.
as KidVermicious said, 4runner stock may be able to handle "moderate" roads
just fine but me being a novice and lousy driver, i could definitely use
some additional clearance!
