Did Toyota change the power seats on the '14?

Test drove a '14 LE today.

When I attempted to raise the driver seat up, nothing happened.

The power seats in my SR5 are adjustable up and down, and IIRC were referred to as "10-way power seats".

From Toyota.com LE specs: "Perforated leather-trimmed, heated and ventilated front seats; 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function and power lumbar support.... "

So, have we indeed been decontented from 10-way seats, down to 8-way seats? .... or am I missing something?

I drove a 2014 yesterday and the seats went up and down... Not sure if it was an added option or not just figured it was standard now I need to look when I look at others.

They are indeed 8-way driver. Passenger is actually 4-way.
(The other 2 before may have been for lumbar?)
Passenger side doesn't go up and down, but driver's side does.

2-tilt up/down, bottom seat

The way that the bottom of the seat tilts is different from my 11', it seems like it just tilts the front of the seat bottom up or down and does not actually raise or lower it.

2. To be clear, I know what lumbar is, and I know what tilt/rock is, and I know what fore/aft is. I am specifically referring to height, as in straight up and down. My SR5 indeed raises and lowers the height of my seat. Perhaps the '14 works differently?

This may help explain such a technical issue: Lifting or lowering the rear part of the rectangular knob raises or lowers the whole seat, and a little forward when raising. Lifting or lowering the front part of that knob tilts the flat part of the seat. Notice how many times I said knob?

My SR5 controls look exactly like that. I can press up on the bottom center of the rocker switch and it moves the seat up and kinda forward. And the LE did not work the same way.... sooooo I a s s u m e d somehow it had been changed.

Let's not debate it further - I'll go back and check it more carefully.

if you lift in the middle of the big bar, it will raise the front and back at the same time.

bad part is, when you raise the 14 LE seats, they move up and forward, and they have quite the range upward. I raised mine and had to stop cause I had to bend my head sideways or snap my neck.

was trying to see the full range of the height.

edit : I should go out and test it, I not completely sure on the middle lift of the bar to raise both at the same time.

went and pulled up an ebrochure from a 2010 4runner and they only list a 8 way back then.

a 10 way would have independent height adjustment, where an 8 way would raise the front and rear of the seat cushion only.

if you raise the rear of the seat cushion, this acts as a height adjustment in the new seats.

Maybe the '14 LE you tested doesn't let you simultaneously press the entire bar upwards like it does on our older models? ie. on ours if we pull the entire bar straight up the front and the rear motors raise the seat simultaneously, making it feel like it's going straight up. And perhaps on the one you test drove, it locks you out of doing both at once :noidea:
