Did you or didn't you? (Extended Warranty)

The 4Runner has a little over 34K on it. It's an '05 Sport V8-2WD w/the Xreas.

I do tow a 4,500 pound trailer once or twice a month for a 100 miles each way.

One on trip I had the VSC and airbag light light come on at the same time- then they went off a little later.

It has the sunroof - but we really don't use it.

Would you guys get the extended warranty?

Does towing really increase the chances of something going wrong?

Looking for your comments.....

I did, 100k $0 deductible ~$700. Type "extended warranty" in the search engine for both this site and tundrasolutions.com.

Bought extended warranty $0 deductible, 7yr/100k when I took delivery. My dealer offers a money back guarantee if I don't make a claim.

I find that this is kinda strange. After you pay the money, it's forwarded to Toyota or their underwriter. How is the dealer getting the money back years later? There is no-such program that I am aware of. Unless the dealer didn't pay the money and is banking on you never using the warranty. HM.......HM...........HM.......

The Platinum warranty is through Toyota. I have paperwork directly from TFS that my 4Runner has coverage. The moneyback guarantee is underwritten by another company for the amount I paid for the Platinum warranty. The moneyback guarantee is not transferrable and it's only for the original owner of the vehicle.

Warranty that has money back

That's interesting. So, you pay for an extended warranty in case any thing happens, then if I understand things correctly - you purchase another insurance policy hoping not to use the one you purchased originally.

S0 -you need to hope that whomever underwrites that policy, is a legitimate company (has a decent insurance rating) who is licensed to do business in your state. And if/when the time comes they will cut you a check.

Of course, this will not be for several years should you keep the vehicle that long.

Nope, the only thing I paid for was the extended warranty. The DEALER is the one that offered the money back guarantee if I do not use the extended warranty. I bought the extended warranty for the peace of mind that if the 4Runner has a problem outside after 3yrs/36k it would be covered. Given the cost of the moonroof problem, the warranty would more than pay for itself.

I did not pay for the money back guarantee. That would be ridiculous. Then do I pay for another money back guarantee on my money back guarantee that's on my extended warranty? :p

I'm not hoping for anything.
