Diesel oils

Hi all,

I recent bought a 99 4R with the v6 and wanted to know if I could use Shell Rotella 5w40 synthetic oil. I used this oil in my 02 Trooper without problems, mostly because of the cleaning properties of this oil. My Trooper used 1 qt every 850 miles. I know that the Rotella is not "energy conserving". Could this be a problem?

I would think the Rotella would be fine. My old Trooper is on 15w-40 Rotella for many years now. Many at BITOG consider it to be a great, versatile oil at a very good price. They use it in some low-mileage new stuff too.
