4bt with an NV transmission
1KZ-T
1KZ-TE

Not ranked in order, I would prefer a 1KZ-TE but that is an expensive swap. 4bt would be a whole lotta fun too.

find Bad Vision on this forum and his Jetta Diesel swap.
He also has about 12 youtube videos of the project.
My son is almost done with a 1UZFE swap and it goes quite nicely and not too expensive if you do your own work. Just takes a bit of time to do any project like this.

I think the diesel option is a valid option. I am researching it for my '89 vslow and may go with the toy 3.0 diesel as it fits my motor mounts and bell housing. (apparently not the 22)

I have more questions than answers thus far. I was going to go 3.4 and still might but would rather have the diesel. I get 15-19 mpg out of the vslow and the math says it would be about 60-80k miles to pay for the swap if I do it myself.

The increase in value of the rig would cover the cost as well. A half cut right now is about $4k.

1kz-t Runs forever if you will take care of it With cooling and oilshifts, easy timingbelt replacement aswell every 100k. and probably port and make the exhaust flows a little better than the stock to make the head safer. its a good work and daily machine self with only 125hp and 287Nm (212 lb⋅ft) stock..

84 diesel swap

Just picked up 84 yota, thinking of dropping 7.3 idi with banks turbo, zf5 speed and np 203/bw 1350 double, with 1 ton axle front and rear, will be custom box frame. Opinions? New to yotas

I live in Bend Oregon and talked to the guy personally. He quoted me $17k to do the install and he had the half-cut sitting right there.

(i know I'm responding to a 3 year old post, but I figured it's relevant since I've spoken to the guy face to face recently)

I have a 1995 I am selling that had this swap. I live in Oregon city and have owned it for 8 years. The guy before me did the swap to the tune of 30K. I have had no issues with it and usually only drive it for hunting season and once week to work to keep it fresh.
