Diff Breather / Water Ingress?

So I have heard about the diff breather mod... if I understand correctly it's to help prevent water ingress into the diff housing?

Is it just the rear diff or does the front have a breather too?

What about the transfer case, is that a sealed item?

IIRC the front diff and TC's breathers are already extended up and doesn't need additional extension for most normal usage. Not sure where they end up .. engine bay? Someone? I haven't done too much research.

The rear diff breather gets extended because it just sits on top by the pumpkin.

I just extended my rear diff. breather the other day. I replaced the breather fitting on the diff and ran 5/16' fuel line hose up and across the frame rail up into a pocket between my driver side tail light and the sheet metal with a new breather.

I've been helping out my neighborhood and whoever I could with my. 4Runner. It's a been a life saver for some -literally. I do not have any breather mod installed - should I do any preventive maintenance for this or anything else after driving through deep waters?

Preventative maintenance after going for a good dip would probably be a drain & fill of the gear oil.

Not much else to do if you do have water ingress.

Yup, engine bay, near the fuse box.
