Diff Drop and skid plate

What is the preferred method of dealing with the skid plate after installing the diff drop kit? Just replace with longer skid plate bolts and spacers in the back?

Depends. If the baffles of your CV axles are touching after a lift it will keep them from excessively rubbing. The long term consequences of this are debatable. More likely you or a service guy will lose the spacers.

It also rotates the diff in such a way that some lube is pulled away from the carrier bearing. Any correction to the CV angles is very minimal.

FWIW - there are diff drops that do a lot more good than the typical spacers in terms of actually dropping the diff down an inch or more. I have not personally installed one of this style, but visually they look a lot better than the basic spacer style at moving the diff lower.
