Diff Lock engage, ABS light comes on?

My Diff Lock has always worked fine, but this last weekend I noticed when I pushed it, the ABS light came on, and I dont remember it coming on before.

Is this normal?

Normal. ABS light comes on when switching to 4lo in some vehicles too.

Just to be clear, it's not for decoration. The system defeats the ABS on purpose, figuring you are better off without ABS in conditions that warrant use of the rear diff lock.

It doesn't do it because it figures you are better off without ABS, it does it because it is physically impossible for ABS to work when your wheels are locked.
