Diff lock issues

Well as I always do I Put my runner in 4Lo and diff lock every month just to test it out and keep fresh. This test did not go as planned.

I put the truck in N Put it in 4Lo and then engaged diff lock which blinked and then went solid showing it locked in place along with VSC. Rolled the runner back and forth a couple times..

Then Put the runner back in neutral and popped it back in 4Hi and disengaged diff lock. But it just keeps blinking now. If I re-press the diff lock button it will re-engage the diff lock, but it wont dis-engage it. just blinks. I have tried rolling it forward and backwards, turning it off and back on. But no luck..ANy ideas, I have an extended warranty on the truck which I am positive should cover this. Should I just make an appointment?

So, it's in high range but the diff won't unlock?

Probably just a little pressure in the transfer case. I'd expect it to unlock if you can get the truck into a situation where you can drive it and play with the throttle and/or steering wheel a little. If you're in a short driveway and can't get it to unlock (try in and out of forward and reverse, back and forth turning the steering wheel just a tad, on and off the throttle) you'll have to get it to the street and drive it. No big deal. Let the light go solid (locked) and then get out of the driveway. The less you can turn the steering wheel to get there the better, but don't worry about it. Once on the street you can hit the button and start doing some acceleration, deceleration. If you have to make a street turn -- the less sharp the better -- don't worry, go ahead. It would be better to make the turn with the diff locked than with the light flashing.

In the future, since you have the V8, you can easily exercise the diff lock just about anytime you think of it while driving. When on a straight stretch of road, turn it off and on a couple of times.

Really? I have never heard that before....

I say it a lot so I guess it's possible you're poking fun, but I'm guessing you're surprised by it.

But yep, I do it all the time. My truck locks/unlocks very quickly but the first time usually takes longer than subsequent ones which seems to say something about the benefit of doing it frequently. Low range seems more consistent and less affected by time gaps between use.
