Diff lock vs DAC button

I installed an aftermarket radio over the weekend.

I removed the plastic panels and disconnected the center diff lock button and the DAC button.

The runner doesn't start now, possibly drained the battery but that's another issue.

Question. I can't remember, and without the truck starting I can't check the functionality. The DAC button is pressed and clicks and stays pressed.

The center diff lock button does not stay pressed in. Is this the correct operation of that button. I can't remember. And I can't start the truck. And would like to put my mind at ease before I clip and screw everything back in.

Functionality wise you have it right, the DAC button gets pressed and will stay in. The diff lock button is momentary and will spring back after pressed.

Neither switch has anything to do with the issue of the truck not starting. Possibly drained from doors, etc. being on while installing. Always a good idea to disconnect the battery when tackling a project like that or to at least put a charger on it while working.

Same thing happened to me over the weekend. I had the doors open for an hour plus while cleaning through it and killed the battery. It was the original 8+ year old Panasonic so I took this as a sign to finally get a new one.

With my original sound system failing, and then the no start issue, along with finding the feeling odd that the center diff lock didn't click and stay down like the similar looking DAC was making me very tense that I was heading into an electrical problem.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

I did disconnect the battery. But I reconnected it, left the hatch flipped open, maybe a door open too and went to bed. 2am in the garage is not the best time for full brain power.

Good batteries those Panasonics. My original forgotten in the corner of the garage indicated 6 volts. my truck is a 2003!
