Difference between 265/65/17 and 265/70/17 ??

I have decided to get a set of Nitto terra grapplers. But, want to know the difference in a 60 series and a 70 series in this tire? Will here be any drawbacks if I go with the 70 series? I mean will it affect my speedometer reading, or anything else? Will it drive worse with the 70 series? Clearance won't be an issue. I have the Toytec 3" lift.
I just don't want to make a mistake and regret it later, and I do value your opinions. Many thanks.

Yes, sparky, I have used the search function many times on this subject. I really wanted to get a little more input ,for this specific deal, because I know some of the good folks on here have went through this before.

I went with the same tire size increase on mine.

I noticed a slight decrease in MPG and the speedo is off by about 4 mph at speeds <70

As far as the ride goes it seems pretty similar.

I don't reget going with the bigger size.

Thanks Smobien, that is exactly the input I am needing. I like the calculation sheet there too. That explains a lot. You know, the funny thing is the 70 series is actually about $20 a set cheaper ,where I priced them.
I know to me, it will look better with the taller tire.

I actually just towed a Camry on an auto transport back to PA a few days ago and was concerned about back end wobble, but everything seemed very solid. I want to go take them out in the woods here soon!

The only issue I found was some innerfender rub in reverse at full steering lock. Why it only happens in reverse is a mystery.

It's a much more common size, so you'll find that the prices may be lower. I have been running the 70 series since 2010 on a set of old Goodyear Wrangler AT/S tires, but I'm now on some 255/70-17 Blizzaks. After winter, I'm likely going to pick up a set of OEM-sized 65-series Michelins. The reason I'm doing this, is that I thought the 70 series Goodyears made the truck feel cumbersome. They were just some heavy tires...the blizzaks are much lighter, and i can feel a large difference in the ride.

When I checked the stats on the Michelin LTX M/S2, the OEM size was a decent amount lighter than the 265/70-17 size. You're going to feel the difference in ride and in acceleration with a few fewer pounds per corner, and I don't think you're losing much, as far as ride height. Mine was a tad bit taller with the 70 series, but I'm not one who needs every last 1/4 inch of clearance crawling over boulders, etc. I doubt many of us are.

Also pay attention to load rating, they can change as you go up in sizing. So make sure you get they you are expecting for ride quality.

May I suggest the miata tire sizer website. It will tell you the amount different.

Or you could even go to the manufacturer website and look at the tire size chart, scroll your screen to diameter and subtract the numbers you are comparing.

Or the lift FAQ link at the top of the site had 100+ pages of lift and tire size info.

Or you could just ask since it is easier.

Speedo 5% off, ride difference will depend on tire, if u stick with P rated it won't be any difference really. Slight decrease in MPG! Most like the 70 ride better! There are tire size calculators all over the internet, they can guide you

Same on mine in reverse, mine rubs on the mud flap, it has a high ridge for it to rub on in reverse and smooth and even in forward.
