Difference between Sea Foam products

Hey guys. Last week I used Sea Foam Spray to clean the injectors, which cleans and lubricates through the PCV valve. Would it be ok or should I have done it with the Sea Foam Motor Treatment.

Going through the PCV won't clean the injectors. Only dumping in the fuel tank will clean the injectors. What you did was clean the intake and valves.

Thanks cashmoney. I notice that when other members do the sea foam treatment through the PCV valve, they pour the sea foam. They don't use the aerosol with lubricant. Just wondering if I should use the liquid form to clean all the lubricant it left.

So did you use deep creep or the aerosol can of the motor treatment? Deep Creep is intended to be used as a WD-40 substitute and not for cleaning things. The aerosol can is supposed to be sprayed directly into the intake in front of the throttle body plate and not into the PCV.

I'm about 99.9% sure that most on here use the vacuum source that's connected from the PCV to the (Corrected) upper intake plenum behind the throttle body. I have a two foot hose I connect to the plenum and a tin cup that I fill to about a 1/4 and while running the engine I will insert the vacuum line into the cup for a bit to clean the build-up. I'll do that several times until the 1/4 cup is empty.

I might do this once every two to three years. These engines are extremely robust and despite the high mileage if you're still getting good compression you don't need to worry about using Seafoam that often.

It's also good simple step for troubleshooting a 0420 sensor problem. If the sensor code comes on, you may want to use some Seafoam to try and "clean" the carbon build-up in your exhaust using the same vacuum line hooked up to the intake plenum.

Some guys believe in all the additives and I'm one that never has. I grew up with the STP and the Marvel Mystery oil craze and most of that stuff is just "snake oil". If you change your oil and filter regularly and use good gas and perform regular maintenance you'll be golden.

My apologies. It's the old school coming out in me. Wish you could throw on a Holley or a Rochester quadrajet and Edelbrock torker. Made the corrections. Don't want to mislead anyone. One day I'll learn not to post anything before my first cup of coffee in the morning! hehe Thanks!
