I also want to get rid of my Dunlop AT20 on my 06 runner. Rated 62 out of 64 by Tire Rack for all season tires! I see that many of you are going from 265-65-17 to 265-70-17 for reason of looks. I want to stay near stock but can you tell me what impact going to the 70 series will have on the speedometer or handling. I live in snow country and am considering the Revos or other tires.

Speedo is off about 3 mph. So, at indicated 55 mph you are doing 58 mph.
Handling depends on what kind of tire (AT, MS) you get because in reality you are only lifting the vehicle another half inch off of the ground.

The taller tire will most likely slighly degrade the handling because of the taller sidewall. You do get about a half inch lift out of it though. A slightly taller tire will also degrade acceleration and fuel economy because of the added inertial load to spin up the tire.Toyboomer said:
Sounds like a wash in the benefit/drawback dept. On one hand you have taller tires which are better in the snow and give you a little more clearance, but on the other hand you lose a little handling and acceleration. Guess it comes down to whichever is more important. Any decent 65 series tire will be good enough in the snow...
