For all you engineer's and 4runner die-hards, I'm new here(purchased an 07 in April). Over the past month I've been trying to decide between which brake setup I want to do, a mix of stoptech and 5th gen calipers, the power stop z36. Now, after watching videos of other car builds I've got to wondering, what are the dimensions of our calipers and and what else may be a factor in switching calipers. I know some Honda's can use Porsche 911 calipers, is there a Porsche for our 4runners? Or a different manufacturer. Just a thought. Would love more info from you smarties.

I did a brake job on my 2005 4runner at 140,000 miles. I had front-wheel caliper issues. Best to stay with AM Cardone that are rebuilt. You won't find OEM Calipers. They are all remanufactured.No such thing as new calipers.
Get the wrong size and you will be sorry and returning. I had a professional brake job shop do mine. 4runner brakes can be problematic.

If you don't have the large diameter rotors in front I would upgrade to those, means you need to get the right caliper if you have the small diameter.
I upgraded with Stoptech rotors and NAPA calipers, which are Cardone and used PosiQuiet pads. Also, install Stoptech braided lines front and rear.
Did this on my '03 V8 LTD. 3 years ago and no regrets.
I don't off road so probably not as tough on the brakes as that would be.

I ultimately went with 5th gen calipers on my '08. I used O'Reilly calipers with the lifetime warranty, Centric rotors and OEM brake pads. Been two years and 35k miles and no issues so far. You must have 17" or larger rims to fit them though. I looked into getting other brands but ultimately decided to stick with something closer to stock with parts that were easier to get. Unless you're racing your T4R or doing a lot of max weight towing I can't really see a reason to spend a ton of money on the brakes for these.
