Differential / Transmission / Transfer Case Fluid Change

Should I be getting synthetic 75-90 or will just conventional do? Just looked at the price on synthetic and its almost 5 times the price. Is it really worth it? Does Toyota recommend synthetic?

Also, its coming up to winter and Im due for an oil change. What should I be looking at running for the cold months. I am moving up northern BC/AB so its going to be getting bloody cold!

5W-30 Full Synthetic or a Synthetic /Conventional blend? In the past I have used conventional because the full synthetic leaked too much out the valve gaskets. I am getting those replaced so hopefully I wont have any leaking oil issues anymore.

I much prefer synthetic for everything. However, as you stated synthetic tends to be a bit thinner and leakage is a possibility. Now days though I've seen synthetics that state they are for over vehicles that have 75,000 miles or more. I am guessing they thickened up the formula a bit to correct that problem on older trucks.

I just changed all my fluids in the 95 4Runner I bought and I went with a semi-synthetic rear diff of 80W-90, 5W-30 synthetic for high mileage vehicles for the oil, and standard Dexron VI in the tranny and TC case.

Went with normal. Synthetic is harder to find up here, not to mention I would have spent well $250 if I went full synthetic. Still spent $100+ bucks on oils but that included engine as well!

The bloke at the toyota dealership was nice, printed me out a fluid fact sheet for my model truck. Spent about 20 mins helping me out and all I bought were 4 drain plug gaskets, lol

Went with 75-90 up front and 80-90 in the rear.

I'm a Valvoline kinda guy in general, so in two weeks I'm using all Valvoline gear oils.

The Valvoline gear oils in my needed quantity cost $80 ... damn.
