Just because there's only 2 now doesn't mean you wont be able to get it long term. Stock is based on demand. I'd be willing to bet that's not something that they sell regularly. We would see sub 5 of various parts left in the country all the time at Subaru. Metal vacuum lines are a great example, since you shouldn't ever have to replace it excluding odd damage there's no reason to produce or stock many at all. There are parts that never stocked over 5 or 10 nation wide because dealers didn't have a regular need for them.

According to the parts guy? All I'm saying is it's a pretty common practice to stock very low numbers of items that do not sell regularly on a national level across many brands. There's certainly potential that they aren't producing more, but I wouldn't place my bets on a parts guys opinion or the number left currently available.

Why would we ever replace this item?

I have 240 K MILES on 4WD 97 4Runner. I've been wheeling in multiple states for years now and until this post I didn't even know what this part was.
