hello everyone first time poster, I recently purchased two 1987 4runners both being turbo charged, the problem is that on one of them the dash lights are one as soon as you turn the key on but once you turn the lights on the dash goes dark< dont know if anyone has suggestions on this problem but all help would be welcomed. also the turbo gauge showa three bars all the time, could this be a grounding problem? pictures to follow

Turbo's are rare, as will be strong knowledge of the digital gauges...
Usually digital clusters are set to dim when the lights are on. My best guess is that the resistor that lowers the voltage went bad. Might be easy to troubleshoot, might need to be replaced.

Only half of my dash board lights work!
New member and first post... I just bought an 87 4Runner and on my first drive during the night realized that only half my dashboard lights were working! After a week of driving none of the dashboard lights worked. I played around with the dimmer switch and checked the fuses, no luck! 2 days later the same half the lights that worked previously now work again! Where do I start and would it have anything to do with the Odometer not being hooked up???

I agree with dingman; I am having the exact same problem with my digi dash. Did you figure out the problem? I will likely disconnect the dimming circuit entirely from the digi dash, as I usually always drive with the lights on; but it would be nice to restore the function and just isolate the dimming with a switch.
