Dip sticks sucks

I have always done 5.5 quarts per fill, and I never check the oil level, because like you said the dip stick is useless.

I seem to drain out about 5.25-5.4 quarts each time. I am guessing I burn about 1/8-1/4 a quart? Anyways have never had any issues.

I also learned a trick to start the car after all the oil has drained for about 5 seconds, it flushes out whatever is in the pump. ( 5 seconds ONLY :lightsaber: )

I just noticed this...

You want to be VERY careful about doing that, while yes it flushes out the oil in the pump and passageways it can prematurely damage the pump as well as other components that need oil. Yes its only for 5 seconds but over time it could cause issues, just something I myself would not risk

Keep in mind that in 5 seconds of operation that oil pump is running metal to metal as it was not designed to do. Just trying to make sure you know what you are doing.

point well taken

thanx

No problem, I want to make sure people are educated on what they are doing right or wrong.

Give a man a fish feed him for a day, teach him how to toss explosives, feed him for life... ya know? :)

I would never ever start a engine once the oil is drained. Just asking for trouble.

=) ya looking back at the marginal benefit vs. risk. I'm with you guys. Won't be turnin' on the rig to get the last drop of oil out.
