I have thought about doing this as well.
Here you go.
This guy has made an entire business of doing plasti-dip. He has a bunch of videos on you tube on how to do this. He also does an entire car a different color. There are a bunch more on you tube as well. Most of them they cover the rotor and brake parts behind the wheels with plastic grocery bags then stuff playing cards between the rim and the tire and go to town. The thing that would probably keep me from doing this is the amount of detail cleaning that would need to take place prior to the job.

I dipped mine last weekend but haven't had time to take any good pics. It's been dark every night by the time I get home from work. I'll try to get a few Saturday morning & post here. They look good, but I worry about the durability. Luckily it's pretty easy to do touch ups
Work sucked today, so I took off early and grabbed a couple pics as the sun was about to set on my way to drop the dog off for grooming.

its surprisingly durable, especially considering the prep I did, which was wiping the wheels down with a wet paper towel... Taping up was a pain, I've never painted wheel on a car before.
edit: what's funny about the photoshop I made..... it looked exactly like the real thing did when I was finished. Granted mine is a second gen, this is what to expect.

Can I dip my wheels when it's cold outside? It's cold in my garage right now and I'm wondering will the plastidip stick?

Funny- today makes 1 year and 4 months.
Planning on doing this come spring when it warms back up consistently in Colorado.
I have a question regarding cleaning. Do you have to be "careful" and only use a soft sponge? I don't usually run my vehicles through the automatic car washes especially those with brushes or the like, but I am wondering about the potential of these types of car washes to begin to peel the plastidip up from say a corner. I have seen videos of direct high pressure sprayer washing, with no effect on the plastidip. Seems to hold up really really well.
I am also contemplating doing portions of the truck in matte clear so as to prevent the pinstripping from narrow trails here in Colorado. I believe Socaltrail did his entire truck in a clear bra / vinyl, but the cost is prohibitive.

Im told to avoid tire shine as it eats it away, supposedly.
I can attest to the power washer not causing trouble.

Wow, that's impressive. I'm going to try it this spring also. How does it hold up to tire rotations? Does the finish get scratched or peeled with removal of the lugnuts?

I have been doing quite a bit of plastic dipping in cold weather and it's fine as long as it's dry and not humid. I did some in Colorado while visiting my parents for Turkey day. It was like 45 and dry and it seemed to be the perfect conditions. Also.....IMHO....use like 4 coats and the stuff works excellent. Watch the videos at www.dipyourcar.com.

I did my rims the other day/night... I had to do two wheels at a time cause I was scared to have my truck up on 4 jack stands. It was super cold out and by time i got to the second set it was darkout and it sprayed on with some thick drops... so I stopped, shook up the can more rolled it in my numb hand and continue... It didnt matter by the third coat the plasti dip was on thick enough to cover the drops.
Plenty of people have done it this way...I think it is totally possible. I am sure there are trade-offs...
It is probably quicker than removing each wheel, but it might be harder to prep and clean the wheel.
