Dirty Door Jambs?

My local off road park has areas that are always muddy. Since i'm really just 10 year old in a 38 year old body... I go barreling though the mud.

Lately i've noticed that even after doing the coin wash/ drive through wash combo... my door jambs are just as muddy as they were before.

Are ya'll just wiping these down by hand?

Mine get like that too. That part doesn't really seal. It seals up above it, hence why crud probably sneaks into it.

But yeah, I just wipe it down with a rag

This is the exact reason that I spent a lot of time shopping for sliders that provide full coverage. I was planning on making my own until I found White Knuckle Off-Road sliders with available full diamond plate tops.

spray it off carefully with the hose, maybe wipe it down. it gets all nasty from driving in the rain too, i kinda ignore it unless its disgusting

Those White Knuckle Sliders are hella nice... but damn thats nearly $800 for sliders after shipping.

I could hire a team of highly trained monkey's to keep my door jambs clean for that kind of money.

I wash it when I clean and vacuum the interior about every 2 or 3 weeks I make sure to use nice sudsy water and work carefully trying not to get too much water inside, don't go blasting away with the hose just a light gentle spray when rinsing.

i noticed that too after i removed my running boards. So if i build some sliders with a top plate it will eliminate this ?

Can't speak for the sliders, but when I clean my 4R, I notice the door jams always pretty dirty. I'd say the "door rubber jams" don't do a good job of keeping crap out. Mine are sort of loose, anyone else have this problem?

How are sliders going to keep mud out? You will still be splashing mud with them on, right??

I think he's saying if you get slider that have plate over the top, diamond plate or otherwise, it stops the mud from slinging up some.

I figured someone would have found some fancy rubber gasket that could be fitted to the door or the door jamb that would keep some of this out.

It happens man. It's just part of my car wash routine to get those jams clean, even when they're not caked in mud. That's how I was trained waaay back in high school when I worked at a car wash.

full top plate is awesome. And they're removable as white knuckle ones are bolt on. Part of the white knuckle cost is for the quality.
