Disable DRL in PA

Did you search this? It has been talked about at length. I believe it is pretty easy to disable. I think it is just replacing a relay. And you could probably sell your DRL relay when done.
BTW, drl's are not required equipment so I can't see how it would be illegal to disable them. Dealers are very ignorant about a lot of things and I would not take their word on anything.

I know Canada it is a law that all new cars have DRL, but nothing in the states.
Like Toybox mentioned, you can swap out a relay to disable the DRL but the dealership can disable it by programming it so later on you can re-enable it if you choose to.

That's OK... I had a dealer tell me once that I couldn't access the maintenance history on my truck because of HIPAA. When I explained that HIPAA means "Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act", he didn't care. For some reason, employees at car dealers don't ever have the balls to say "I won't do that" or even "we have a policy against that"; instead, they come up with some BS lie to make it sound like they can't do it.phillyd2 said:

Because some dealers are afraid of a legal liability issue if they do it for you. Even though DRL's are not required by law, the dealer is still disabling a safety feature that was put in by Toyota at the factory. Should you get in an accident someday and the cause of the accident is found to be that your truck was hard for the other driver to see and DRL's might have prevented the accident, then the dealer could be partially at fault.phillyd2 said:

Here you go. This thread contains instructions for adding or removing the DRL relay unit. By following the instructions I was able to change out the non-DRL flasher relay unit with a DRL flasher relay. Instructions for removing a DRL flasher relay and replacing it with a non-DRL flasher relay are also included in the thread.

Try another dealership though they may make you pay if you didn't buy the truck from them. If the truck was recently bought, you can sometimes bring it in for them to change things for free especially if you have not submitted the Customer Survey form.

2 weeks ago i went to a stealer and they wanted $100 for removing the drl. i told them to eat $h!#.
just today i went to another stealer and they told me that you cant do anything about the drls. some trucks come with them and some dont. i told him that it takes like 2 seconds with the scan tool. it took me about 20 minutes to convince him to try it.
OMG it really only takes 2 second to turn the drls off, whadda ya know. no changing relays and its totaly reversable
