disabling ignition bell

Does anyone know how to disable the ignition warning bell? I usually have to use my 4runner as an office and like to set with the door open to stay cool, but with the ignition set to ACC. Thanks.

:hello: Key Reminder Disable Mod

Any questions, let me know.

Great info thank's . I hate that chime !

I have been using a big squeeze clamp to hold in door pin.
This is my next Mod.

With above Mod Will you loose the feature :
Can not lock keys in car ,
With keys left in ignition door's will not lock.

As you can see on the schematic provided in the write up, This mod only disables the output wire to the buzzer, so no, it will not change anything else. That said I have not tested that the specific feature mentioned still works but I will test it for you this weekend and add the test results to the write up (sorry I dont drive during the week and have been working very late otherwise I'd do it sooner).

Up Date,
Just did mine and it WORKS GREAT !

This is my new favorite mod.
It did not effect the door lock feature at all.

Thank's Again J.A
Great tip

I would like to find the buzzer and unplug it rather than start cutting wires

It would be even easier to just remove the pin/wire from the ecu connector. The FSM's do show to do this but I haven't been successful at unlocking the connector in order to remove pins. Knowing how to do this would help with other electrical mods as well.

Rather than spending time post-whoring as I usually do I actually worked on my T4R today. :bigok: This mod worked perfectly! Awesome write-up J.A., thanks:biggrin2:

I am very happy as I didn't want to disable any other alert functions. I don't know if the T4R uses one tone generator for everything or several but either way I got the desired results.

In this day & age of lockout protection with the key in the ignition I don't know why anyone would want that chime unless their personal security threshold involves taking the keys but leaving the car unlocked

Resurrecting this thread. The link to the website no longer seem to work. Can anyone please point me to a more recent write-up of how to unplug the key in ignition beep on the 4th gens?
