Disconnecting ECT button

Will vehicle still run fine without ECT button connected? Stereo place cracked and broke tabs on center panel when working on stereo. I got them to pay for new replacement panel but going to have an amp installed by another place and will install new panel myself afterwards. I was going to remove old one before hand including buttons and such. Thanks

I don't know why it wouldn't, but you can leave just that section connected if you want - it pops out easily, just be careful with the tabs that hold it to the bezel.
