Disengaging 4WD HELP!

Stuck 4WD

Recently had this problem on my 2000 limited with m/mode.
Stuck blinking, locked and binding in tight turns.
Daughter had to drive it this way for a few days. I hoped it would reset itself. No luck there.
Researched the sensors, and set to remove them and check for continuity.
Was surprised both sensors initially checked out as good. While having them out, I exercised them several times, cleaned and lubricated, then replaced them. Truck disengaged immediately upon starting.
Took time to drive around switching in and out of m/mode several times and all is well. Works perfectly now.
If it ever sticks again, I will just order and replace both sensors. Shouldn’t though with monthly activation per owners manual.

Total costs was $0 spent, some time on my back, and better understanding of my rig for when it might happen again in the future. With a 27mm socket this is a snap. Good luck.

So I read through this thread and I don't understand this particular symptom.

With multimode 4wd engaged - without the center differential locked - why are some 4Runners having issues with binding in turns? Is the center differential locking up on its own?

I've driven several 3rd generation Limiteds with multimode and engaged the system on dry pavement. No binding in turns. The 4WD system, when engaged, is as transparent as the full-time 4WD system in a V8 4th gen or the AWD in a Subaru.
