Distributor gear

Hi everyone, I think I have good news to start the New Year and hopefully this is a sign of things to come. It looks like the gear that drives the distributor has slipped back, how would this have been secured originally? How would I go about fixing this? Thanks for the help. (it's good news because I thought it was the timing chain)

IIRC they are pressed on to the distributor shaft. Might be worth just getting a new distributor (~$140). I just had to replace mine a few months back when it locked solid destroying both gears.

Thanks Crutchy, is there just one bolt holding the distributor on? I couldn't get the distributor out maybe because the little gear slid down and the big gear is stopping it from sliding out, I was thinking maybe I would have to take the big gear off, is that a counter threaded bolt? any advice? Thanks.
