the green filter alone is better than the stock filter, at least it looks like it. we dont need the carbon anyway.

Well, since I started this thread, I reserve the right to rescind....

I'm in the midst of my 30K maintenance, and I just pulled the cabin filter....while there were some nice leaves, etc in the filter, I'm fairly sure the green media for this filter is pretty worthless. So, I'm not recommending this mod.

I've just cut up a 3M Filtrete filter and replaced it. I bought the 20x25 filter for about $15, and looks like I can get about 8 or so cabin filters out of it, so I'm recommending that.....

Next up...plugs and diff/transfer fluids....

The 4th Gen has a cabin filter in the glove box (in front of the front passenger.) It is largely there to prevent debris from entering the fan assembly for HVAC. It should not be considered an air purifier (ionic breeze) device.

I am not certain about the 3rd gen 4 Runner.

Here's my cabin air filter mod. I used a Filterete type home furnace filter purchased from Wal-Mart. I have attached pics of my dirty filter along with my new homemade filter done last year.


Unfortunately, I cannot attach my photos because they are too large. Anyways, this is an easy mod to do.

3rd gen cabin filter mod

As far as I know from reading other thread the 3rd gen has no cabin filter.
I was searching any mods. I use the a/c a lot with the recycle air on.
Be nice if anyone did a mod on 3rd gens.
