Do I need a different Flasher module?

I have a tent trailer that when I'm plugged into it, my turn signal and brakes won't work on the trailer, they still work on the 4Runner.

But if I plug the trailer into a different vehicle everything works fine.

Do I have a wiring problem? or do I need a stronger flasher sending unit?

Thanks

Do you have a flat plug or the round one on the trailer? Are you using an adapter? Do you have a brake controller such as a Prodigy?

Need more info here to help you!

Thanks for the reply:

I don not have a brake controller, the trailer is small and has no brakes.

I am also using the large round plug adapter from the trailer to the 4runner.
The same adapter was used on the other vehicle.

I installed a brand new wire harness 5 or so years ago and thought that went pretty well, all connections plugged directly into the stock wiring.

But even with the new set-up back then, the blinkers and brake lights were somewhat dim.

I know with older vehicles that they had big silver flasher relays that could be changed out to a heavy duty one. I couldn't find anything like that in the vehicle. Is there still something that needs to be upgraded? or could it just be in my wiring harness?

I do remember that the harness had some type of conversion box to correct the signal my vehicle to the trailer, could that have gone bad?
