do i need to remove hubcap aka wheel ornament

2005 V6 265/65/R17 alloy wheel 4WD

pretty dumb q: in order to take the tire off of the wheel, do i need to pry the center cap, hubcap, aka wheel ornament with a toyota logo on it off first?

it seems like there's enough clearance to turn the lug nuts and the hubcap would just come off with the tire. the owners manual says pry them off in teh section on road side flat tire replacement.

No you don't have to remove the center cap to get the wheels off. Shops will sometimes be lazy and not remove them which can scuff up the sides of the plastic cap. If you don't mind them getting a little messed up over time you can leave them on when loosening and tightening your lug nuts.
