Sure. The physical principles don't change for any locked center connection whether it's a locked differential or standard part-time 4wd. A difference would be that a 4th gen would go farther before needing to lock the center in the first place (because of Torsen and atrac). I'm confident it would make that hill at the same approach speed without needing to lock.
