Do the doors unlock when you

put the truck in drive? I have a 2001 SR5 that does NOT have the RS3000
Alarm system. The question is whether or not the locks are supposed to lock automatically when the truck is put into Drive. Also, shouldn't the doors unlock auto when the truck is turned off?

Thanks

I believe it's normal for the locks to engage when the truck is in drive, and then disengage when in park or turned off.

However, mine only does this occasionally..........

It's easy to disable that if you have the factory alarm system, the owners manual has step-by-step on how to do it. If you don't have the factory alarm, I'm not sure why it would be doing it... maybe you have an aftermarket system of some sort?

On the contrary, when I had my Security/Starter installed, they inadvertently bypassed the auto door lock function, which I had with the factory RS-3000. It's just one feature I like which I opted to have re-installed.

Mine locks when it is started, then unlocks when the ignition is turned off. I learned this the hard way last summer. I was leaving work and had a bunch of crap that I wanted to put in the passenger side. So, I figured I would reach over and get the engine going to get the AC cold (scorching hot Houston summer day). I started her up, put all my junk on the passenger seat, and shut the door. Walked over and.........SH###########T!!!!! :ybrick: My keys were locked in..........with the engine running. Took some creative work from some 'experienced' guys at work to get back in. I am so traumatized by this, when I get out of my 4rnr for any reason while the ignition is on, even if the doors are unlocked manually, I roll the window down all the way.

My 99 doesn't lock when I put it in drive but I wish it did. I guess i am one of the few that likes that feature. I hate driving around with my doors unlocked and always forget to lock the doors when I start driving

This didn't work on my 3rd gen. Has anyone else had luck with getting this to work? I called the dealer today and they said they could reprogram it by hooking it up to the computer but that is a $50 charge for "a half hour." Which is really probably 5 min.

Right now mine stays unlocked all the time. I want it to lock when I drive either lever or speed.
