Do the new 4Runners still use the auto locking rear deck lids?

I have a 08 4Runner that has the auto locking rear deck lid, do the new 4Runners still use them?

You talking about the rear hatch? All my doors lock when shifting to drive. Which I believe can also be changed to be based on speed instead of shifting.

Sorry i did not make my question very clear, what i am asking about is not just the locking of the hatch lid, it's when you close it there is a motor doe's the actual pulling it closed and then locked.

Sorry yes there is an electronic lock. You need to push a button and it pops open and you do the rest.

I believe it just more like a door popper. I don't hear the electronic motor locking like my wifes Highlander does when closing.

What year is your wifes Highlander and what year is your 4Runner?

4Runner 2018

The highlander you can hear the lock when opening and closing. The lift gate is also motorized.

The 4Runner it just pops when opening. Closing I don't hear crap besides it being slammed shut.

Saw your other post. I wouldn't say its auto locking but it does latch closed and cannot open it from the inside unless you add a switch. Someone here added a switch so you can open from the inside. It locks with the door locks.

I've tried to close it softly so it does not latch but the weight of the hatch still causes it to latch.

I very seldom ever open the rear hatch, i have read where if it fails just the parts alone are costly, and if you don't do the repair yourself it runs over a thousand dollars just for the labor.

If your new 4Runner just use's a popper to open, and you just push it closed your lucky.

I'm pretty sure all the new ones are like that. Not sure about the limited though.

Yes I"M glad its not motorized. My wifes Highlander gate has broke couple times already.
