Do you trust parts from ebay?

I've been looking around for the best place to buy parts for my 4Runner and found some pretty decent sites I found while browsing through the forums. However, I decided to look at what ebay had to offer and was blown away when I saw parts anywhere between 30% and 50% of the cost of OEM parts. Are these parts worth the cheaper cost? Can you trust them? Thanks for your input!

Generally the only time I trust eBay parts is when the vendor has a legit website for business also. Like was mentioned - even then I am cautious because I do not want junk parts. But usually an eBay vendor with a couple thousand positive reviews is decent to use.

Well first off - you can find Many OEM parts for less there.

Second - depends on what you're after, but in general there are very good after market parts there which i think most agree are 'ok' with the exception of LBJs - go OEM always.

Third - like any other purchase - size up the seller - you wouldn't buy anything else without doing the same which online includes finding out their return policy, shipping policy and general customer service (via a question to seller and its response).

I've ordered parts from ebay a couple of times without incident. Just check the seller feedback, return policy and whatnot.

Based on what I read here and elsewhere, I ordered the cheaper timing belt kit from aircabinman on ebay before the summer started. Waiting for the heat to break before installing it on the runner.

Have bought tons of parts of the Bay......feedback and return policy is the key, 99%+ but check if seller is a novice because one bad feedback can significantly affect feedback if seller is new; always pay with your CC and never from your bank account and PP will be your advocate if there is a problem. I generally buy only OEM parts or the brand that I am looking for and if the price is too good to be true for the type of item, then it is.....you can get some really decent deals on quality product even from Toyota Dealers.
