Do your window sweeps work?

This is my first Toyota, so I'm questioning whether or not, this is just one of those differences.

When my windows are covered with dew, all of my other cars would clear the dew when I rolled them down. The rubber "window sweeps" could clear stuff on either side of the glass. However, the sweeps do not make contact with the glass on the outside. If the sweeps don't make contact, then I have to assume that water can easily go down into the door assembly.

So, do your window sweeps work? Mine sure don't.

not really. I've yet to be in a car that they work very well in the described way. I think they are there for looks and to keep larger amounts of water from the door. Water gets into all doors on any car.

No mine doesn't work either. But I don't think dew can damage anything inside, at least not any soon. In my previous truck only half of side window was cleared after rolling it down, but windows worked fine. Except that they were frozen when it's really cold in winter and I needed to warm them really well putting air to windows before side windows could be rolled down.

Mine don't work. Didn't work on my 07 Jeep either. :moping:

Thanks for the replies. My last couple vehicles (chevy) cleared the windows well. Someone brought up a good point though. When the windows do freeze up, the sweeps won't freeze tot he glass. That's cool!

For what it's worth, my 1999 Tacoma outer window sweeps don't contact the glass when rolling down the window. They are in contact as long as the window is all the way up, but as soon I lower the windows the glass backs away from the sweeps just enough to stop touching them.

Ha, this drove me insane this morning. I need to get a window wiper for frosty nights that turn into dewy mornings.

Your truck is normal as mine also does not wipe the dew away.

The window sweeps do clear the side windows in my 2004 Sport 4-Runner. That is weird that they do not do it on the 2010s since I would think by design they would want the moisture to run off on the outside of the vehicle.
