Does a 4th gen headunit work for the 3rd gen?

Is there anyway I could get the 4th gen headunit to work in the 3rd gen? I know they have the JBL amp or whatever but has anyone heard of or seen it happen? Not the nav just the regular 4th gen unit...also does it fit nicely in the original headunit spot or is there trimming to do?

I've heard that the JBL stereos don't always match-up connector-wise.

If you want a decent Toyota radio for cheap, try the Scion T1808 or T1806 units. You can buy an iPod cable from eBay and you're got a nice sounding, stock-looking unit.

4th gen radios are larger than double din, so they do not fit. The harness will match, but the radio is over an inch wider than our slot

I have heard that nearly every* SCION radio will work in a 3rd gen with the factory harness.

Look it up on T4R or YotaTech.
