Does anyone have any idea what this button would be for?

Besides the fact that basically every 'classic' car has the foot-operated high-beam switch? It isn't some odd thing... (I'm technically too young to know, but I drove a '67 Ford truck in high school / the 90's)

Besides the fact that it was a common thing on "classic" cars? I wasn't aware of it: I've only seen it one time. My car in HS (also in the 90s) was a Pontiac Transport, which if I recall had a switch on the dashboard for the brights.

I love the term "Classic car" I remember those switches. It seems to me that they were on ALL north american cars until somewhere in the mid 80s If we didnt have to replace them every 2 years from salty boots I would probably still use one. There is no fun anymore like back then. Hit the switch and all the lights went out. Some guys used to carry a spare in the glove box along with a ballast resistor if you we driving a chrysler. I can still remember kneeling on the ground and shoving a paperclip or whatever we could find into the plug to get some lights on again and having to hold a lighter in one hand to see
