Does anyone know when the 2006's come out?

I am looking to upgrade my 2003 V6 Runner to a V8 Runner but not sure if I should wait for the 2006's. But I also don't want to wait too long so that my car isn't worth as much. Unsure what to do. Any thoughts?.

Like EDGE said they usually come out in early September. My best guess is, they will have a mild re-freshing of some sort. Hopefully they will re-do the dash.

I think I might go for the 2005 then. I don't want to wait another 5 months. Hopefully I will get some sort of a deal with the price of gas these days. I am hoping incentives next month are something worth looking at. Thanks all.

4Runners are still popular, gas has not effected them, the gas price is effecting the large SUV that get around 10 mpg:

The 2005 V8 didn't make it to dealers until very late in December. This may have been because of the engine update, but I doubt it (other models with essentially the same engine were out sooner). More likely it was because there were still too many 2004 V8s sitting on the lots.

Anyway, I wouldn't count on being able to take delivery of one in September.

I'm figuring that we should see a redesign of the Rav4, Highlander, and Sequoia before a major refresh of the 4Runner.

Toyota's standard market cycle for its cars is:
- Year 1: Introduction
- Year 2: Minor changes
- Year 3: Minor changes (maybe a powertrain upgrade)
- Year 4: Refresh (front/rear minor update, new colors)
- Year 5: Minor changes (final year of design)

And then it starts all over again.

A couple years ago, I thought we would see a redesigned Highlander in 2006, but I doubt it considering the hybrid model has been labeled a 2006.

Come to think of it, the 4Runner is the newest of Toyota's SUVs. On the other hand, Toyota suprised us (OK, maybe just me) by doing a rather significant mid-year change during the 4Runner's first year, so anything is possible.

Yup, they'll be out in September. I'd expect to see some significant changes for the 2006 model, probably new headlights/tail lights and maybe some interior upgrades. The 3rd gen lasted 7 years, so I'm guessing we won't see the 5th gen until 2010.

I'll partially disagree. I think gas prices are having at least SOME effect on T4R sales, but I would agree that the T4R has not been effected AS MUCH as the bigger SUVs. March '05 sales (according to Toyota USA) dropped 25% for the LC, 15% for the Sequoia, and 9.4% for the T4R compared to March of '04. They sold more Prius than T4R last month - the first time I recall that ever happening.

I gotta think gas prices had SOMETHING to do with last month's shrinkage, perhaps in conjunction with tougher competition from redesigned Pathfinder and Jeep GC

I'll agree with the others that changes for '06 should be minimal, maybe a small cosmetic change to bumpers, etc.

I thank everyone for all the numerous replies. I am going shopping for a V8 SE 2005 tomorrow and we will see whats going to happen. I will be waiting until May though to see what the new incentives are going to be. Too bad there isn't a way to find out ahead of time. But wishful thinking...

I think thats what I meant, gas is gonna effect the sales but like you said:

Right now the lease deals on some of the large SUV is dropping, I've seen H2 for 349 and someone just told me that GM had the largest drop in market share this past months, must be due to all the trucks their no selling:

Keep in mind the third generation lasted 7 years and the 2nd generation lasted 6 years. We are currently in the 3rd year for the 4th generation.

I would expect that the next gen will introduce some form of Hybrid technology into the 4Runner after it has been proven and adapted from the implementation in the Highlander.
