Does anyone the the amp rating on the 03 4runner alternators.

My 2004 Repair Manual shows 100A rated output for the V8 generator. No output spec listed for the V6. I assume that 2003 specs would be the same, perhaps someone with 2003 books could comfirm.

Only 100 amps? Darn, another thing I need to upgrade. I'm gonna need at least a 175 amp alternator.

I'm planning on adding 3 amplifiers for my stereo system, 10 inch and 19 inch lcd monitors, dvd player, xm-radio, mp3 player, and 2-3 deep cycle batteries. If the alternator's amp is too low, it's going to have a tough time handling all the stuff (powering the electrical system, sound system, recharging multiple batteries, etc. all at the same time).

Wow. I've never even though it would be an issue, but seeing what you want to install has me wondering about my own intentions ... Also 3 amps, 2 HU (want to keep WiFi JBL for kids), CB, Radar Detector, and GPS. I'm sure more toys like DVD and headrest monitors will come into play in time.

Is there a formula to help determine if add-on accessories will require a larger alternator?
