Does ECT really works??

Hi everyone, i have a 3rd Gen T4R and i have ECT (Electronically Controlled Transmission) switch in it. I tried it before in really bad wet conditions to see if it works on straight roads, but no result. I researched on it and it seems that it works if you do lot of Uphills and downhills. But i wanna know, have someone ever used this feature and does it work. Thnx in advance.

All this feature really does is cause the transmission to shift at a slightly higher MPH depending on the gear you are in. If you need more power on hills and engine braking on downhills turning off the O/D is more effective or downshifting into 2nd if you are going less than 50 MPH and still need engine braking while going down hill

As stated above all that this does is causes the transmission to rev slightly higher before shifting. And will probably down shift quicker when the RPM's begin to drop.

This would be good when towing to cause quicker and firmer shifts at higher RPM's causing less slippage in the transmission and causing less wear. And also by down shifting quicker it will allow you to tow in a higher gear.

Having used this on my dad's 94 4Runner....you will not notice excessive gobs of extra power.....

I actually get better MPGs using it due to my harder driving so less hunting upshifting and downshifting when I'm trying to maintain 70 on a hilly highway.

My 91 had this too.

I could really tell the difference going up steep hills when using it.
