I'm looking for a 2005-07 V8 4X4 Sport in Silver. I've searched everywhere and have yet to see this combo. Closest I've seen was the V8 Sport but it was 2WD.

Doh. Not sure how I missed that first one.

It seems that there are either not a lot of V8 Sport 4x4 made or people simply aren't selling them.

I currently have a 03' Sequoia 4x4 LTD that I am thinking about getting rid off since its got about 104K on it. I'm guessing I should opt for the V8 instead of the V6 4Runner. I do occasionally tow a motorcycle/trailer a few times a year so but beyond that is mostly highway miles.

I have the 4.0 V6 and have to say it is quite beefy, the specs on the '04 only give the V8 like 50hp and 45fpt over the V6.

If you are only towing motorcycles and not boats or other vehicles, I would think the V6 to be more than capable of that load and give you some more choices; but that's just my .02. I know a lot of people LOVE the V8 and there are definitely better options for engine upgrades for that powertrain?

This is the trailer I haul with a 350lbs bike in it. Total tow weight is about 2500lbs. Do you think I'd be okay with the V6 doing about 2 rountrips a year of about 2000 miles each?

That is a pretty good sized load; I was picturing something more like a bike in an open dolly - not a full blown covered job. Nice trailer btw...

At first I would say no problem with only twice a year, but 2000 miles is a long way each time and with that distance I must assume there are substancial hills/mountains at some point. I would guess this wouldn't be too bad, but still you'd probably be better off with the V8, no sense in putting the extra strain on the V6 and have it crap out on you during one of the trips.

There are 100s of guys with the V8 that I am sure that can provide more details...
I've only towed some light items and recovered a jeep with no power issues to speak of.

I had a '99 and towed 2500-3000# for thousands of miles through the mountains every summer and never had a breakdown. I admit I was always worried though. ireally worked that thing. The new v-6's are even better, but I still went for the v-8 and love it! You will appreciate the extra power and towing capability, factory tranny cooler, and engine oil cooler the v-8 offers. Don't settle - you'll love it!

I had a 2003 4Runner Sport with the V6 and it towed my 29ft 5000lb camper just fine

We roll in a Silver 2005 Sport Edition V-8.

I am actually SERIOUSLY thinking about making it a two 4-Runner family. Our current one is my wife's. I love driving it.

yep ive got a silver 07 sport 4x4 with the v8, ive always been part of the club that believes get the motor/transmission combo you want when you buy it, because trying to change it to what you wanted in the first place would be too expensive. i test drove the v6 but it just didnt do it for me, once you get on the v8 and hear it you will know

That's quite a bit difference, but I do agree that the V6 is plenty for most. I can only suggest the V8 for towing duty or the sweet sweet melody!
