Does this make since?

I am trying to figure out how I can get some bigger tires on my rig without buying wheel spacers or new wheels. I saw a post from someone else on this forum that had 255/85/16 tires and it got me thinking...

Right now I am running a 265/75/16 BFG AT which = 31.6x10.4/16

I know that a very popular size tire which is my first option is a 285/75/16 which = 32.8x11.2/16 A difference in width of 0.6" which might rub on my UCAs.

However I could run a 255/85/16 TrXus which would = 33.1x10/16 making the mud tire a little less than half an inch narrower than my current setup.

My thinking is that I would not have to worry about rubbing on the UCA's correct? BTW, I have the stock 16" rims and no wheel spacers. Thanks fellas.

One more quick question. Anyone have experience with the TrXus on ice or snow?

Your logic is sound. Can your tire dealer mount two of any brand and let it down and allow you to cut the wheel before committing?

That is a very intriguing option. The guys that run the 255/75/17 BFG MudTerrains don't seem to rub at all. With the exception of the hole in the middle the dimensions are similar especially the width.:D
