Does Toyota sell more 2wd or 4wd 4Runners?

Does anyone know for sure? I'm not even sure how to find the data, but a debate on another thread made me wonder if the majority of new 4Runners sold are 2wd or 4wd.

Anyone have the facts?

I dont know solid numbers, but I know that i SEE alot more 2wds.

Id like to see some numbers. 4WD/2WD is going to vary by region. Ive never seen a 2WD 4Runner, as I dont think they are commonly available in the northeast.

I think that TRBenj is right with it varying by region. I see a lot of soccer moms driving 4runners here in southern cali so most of the ones I see are 2wd. I almost never see a 4wd that's also a V8. It's usually a 2wd V6. Disappointing, I know.

Yeah i would say that it depends on the area.. here in cali most are 2wd(at least here in the central valley it is)... I know so because sadly i'm one of them

I'm surprised that you have a 2wd with all of those dirt roads out there. Would be fun to 4X4 them.

I've never seen a 2wd. It boils down to geography and sales figures. If I shop online for a 4runner at toyota.com, enter in my zip code I will be taken to the New England Toyota dealers area, where 4wd is the only option.

Dealers receive breakdowns of vehicle allocation. This includes percentages of colors, engines, transmissions, etc...

Unfortunately, many of the trade magazines cannot be accessed without a subscription.

LOL oh trust me it's not pretty out here on the summer it gets so hot, almost like vegas hot or arizona or death valley... I wanted to get the sports or limited 4x4 but my wife drives the 4runner only reason why i settled for a 2wd

I see that your from OC it's really nice out there, my wife is from anaheim so we drive down there to visit her family, might be moving there by january.

I've been to death valley in April, hit 122 degrees. Horrible. And yeah it's nice out here. Anaheim eh? Did you know Anaheim has more people than the state of Montana? There, now you learned something useless today!

I'm moving out to Colorado most likely after I finish college. It's too crowded here now.

I see way more 4WD where I live.

When I see a SR5 2WD...that SR5 emblem on the doors just look weird. It needs to be debadged.

But you're in Florida..... I'd bet that people living in Canada barely ever see a 2wd 4Runner!

I agree with you... I know that my local Toyota dealer had one 2wd 4Runner on the lot when I was purchasing my 4Runner. I know that because it was basically the EXACT vehicle I was looking for, except that it didn't have 4wd. My salesman told me that it had been sitting on the lot for a long time and that they were having a hard time selling it. He said that he would give me a sweet deal on it, but I told him that I wouldn't buy a 2wd 4Runner even if he was practically giving it away!

I was hoping someone would have something, especially considering that we have a brand new resident expert who states very matter-of-factly that 2wd 4Runners are sold more than 4wd 4Runners.

Are you feeling threatened by this brand new resident expert? You have pretty much held that title since you joined, but personally I feel you are still firmly in the lead. Good luck with that.

Not in the least, as I never claimed to be any kind of expert on anything. God knows that there are too many know-it-alls around here to try to tell anyone anything. You should know exactly what I mean by that. But thanks for asking.
