Does Your 4Runner Do That?

I Suspect all of our Runners have little quirks. Do you think yours is the only one that does a particularly quirky thing?

I'll bet you would be surprised!

Post em up, and let's see.

Well..

Sometimes it stalls when I push in the clutch at a stop light... Im working on it.

Sometimes it floods out when trying to start, just unplug the cold start injector and shell start. Also working on it.

They key will come out of the ignition in any position, you know its really off when the clock shuts off.

The passenger door is off a different toyota, so the lock doesnt work. I leave the back sliding window unlatched and do the ole reach around to unlock it.

The rear window also doesnt need the key to operate, I can make it go up and down bu sticking my kinfe in the key slot.

I think thats it.. Haha

Same with my rear window^ And key position doesnt matter in ignition, im always going down the road and then asking someone to hold my keys while I drive. Lol

My 4Runner does awesome off-road, pulls hard, and has been a reliable and amazing 4WD compared to anything else I have owned.

Oh.. wait were we talking about bad quirks? LoL :hatsoff:

My engine sounds really beefy for a V6--sounds just like a small-block Chevy V8 for some reason. Weird. Pulls like one, too. Haven't tried very hard to fix it--I kind'a like it.

Sunroof stops 2/3's of the way when closing and you just have to tap the glass then it will close completely. Took me a while to figure this out when I bought it.

Burns 40's... expensive yes, ridiculously fun... also yes.

It does take a couple seconds to shut down after i turn the key off. Almost like the ignition system has a capacitor that has to lose power before it powers down.

Flux capacitor?

In my 2000 4Runner the ashtray opens up by itself ever 20 minutes of driving. I guess I keep too much change in it. The sad thing it has been doing it a long time and I just realized it.

Nate our 4r's have a 20 sec delay timer, until you open a door, you can roll down the windows even (power), and the marker that tells you when it shuts off is the power antenna if yours still has one.

I did the ISR mod as well and love my 'thinks its a v8' sound too, just not when I broke exhaust pipe an had an open cat!! Resonates through floorboard and wakes up fellow campers...lol

That's a safety feature. They all do it so the child you leave in your hot car can't close the sunroof on his neck. You have to take your finger off the switch for a second and then push again. I've had both a '97 and a '00 and I'm pretty sure there's something about it in the owner's manual. It bugs me too though.

Every once in a while my HVAC will not come on when I start up the 4Runner, but all I have to do is turn the fan knob one click or push the A/C button and it comes right on. Been doing this since day one, but only once or twice a week.

Shouldn't your warranty take care of that?
