The problem is with barking, and that is it. Other than that, she is well behaved, does what I ask her, and is good with people.
The trainer said to start with a spray bottle (water). I've done that for 4 months now to no avail. She then suggested the cintronella spray collar. It worked for maybe a couple of days, but then she just ignored it.
She then suggested the shock collar on a mild setting.
She is a 3 year old long haired Daschund. My wife and I actually have 2 of them...the other one has been a dream to train, and barks only once in a while...I only have to say no one time to her and she complies....and it is a rarity that she even barks any more.
In fact, if both of them are together playing inside or out, and she starts barking...the non-barker puts her tail between her legs and gets away from her as fast as possible....it's almost funny in a way to see that.
I'm an animal lover, and would never want to harm an animal in any way...but the barking is out of control and it needs to be corrected.
Not that I have to explain myself to you or that you are answering my question...the trainer that I paid good money and spent time and effort advised me to do this.
Most of the shock collors have a vibration first then you can progress from there, usually the vibration gets their attention enough.https://smile.amazon.com/Petrainer-...WSC2&pd_rd_i=B00W6Y3I3O&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER
that isn't the exact one we used, but its very much like it, just a different brand. I cant remember the brand we have, but the last time I looked it up, they weren't available(on amazon).
it works well, I usually use it on 5% or less.
all these people concerned about SHOCKING the dog, but that's not really what you're doing, nor what you want to do. it will be like a little pinch, it definitely startles them, and gets their attention. its not like a taser, it doesn't fold them into a ball on the ground.
Why don't you take the time and effort to train your dog the right way insread of taking the easy way and SHOCKING the dog into what you will call "trained"![]()
