Dome light repair

Hi,

Has anybody ever successfully repaired those plastic tabs that hold the dome light in the frame? I tried velcro, but the glue seems to be too weak to hold the full weight.

I got a replacement online, but probably due to it's age, it didn't last very long either, and finding the right combination between color, sun roof, and homelink is not that easy.....

they have metal clips.

make sure the holes in the roof is not bent out of wack, straighten them out.

also if you want, try camry homelink off ebay, not sure if you have sunroof. but the roof console fits just fine.

install metal clips and apply some glue and let it dry before install. i usually use a dab of super glue and some accelerator to promote faster setup.

Usually those metal clips are on top of plastic taps. Those plastic tabs are broken off (and yes, the metal clips stayed inside the vehicle...).
Are you saying just glueing the metal clips to the bottom of the plastic is sufficient even with the plastic tabs gone?

Just had a look at a similar one, the metal clips are above the bottom, so the distance to the hole would not be correct even if I was able to glue them to the bottom.

Thanks I saw that, too, but it's unfortunately tan and not gray.
I inadvertently tried a tan before and it doesn't look great at all.
(many sellers don't know the difference and even when they say gray, it turns out to be tan).
Here's how the gray supposed to look like, but it doesn't have all the functions: 389670845081
