Donahoe Racing Tundra coils

I know you can use the trd springs from the tundra for lift on a 3rd gen T4R, does that mean you could use adjustable coilovers for the tundra, but just set them to a lower setting? I found a pair for a good price off a 01 Tundra.

Ive got Tundra coils with Bilstein 5100's made for a Tundra so dont see why not. As long as the diameter of the coilovers in question arent much bigger than OEM

The top mount bolts are aligned differently on the tundra. It might work if you can rotate the top mount.

that is true, if he swaps top plates he should be good

and as far as the tundra coils... I know my sway aways have a top plate with 6 holes. 3 for tacos/4runners and the others are for tundras.

i dont think icons or donnahoes are built like that. and jfyi. donnahoe switched to icon a few years back so that will give you an idea of how old they are

Yes, I am aware of donahoe becoming Icon etc... thanks! These just came back from Icon for a rebuild, the guy needs money so he never installed them on his truck after he got them back. I asked him to send me pictures of the top plate so I can see if this is going to work. He wants 600 for them, I just thought it would be nice to get 3 to 3.5" of lift without maxing out the coilovers.

Coilovers really are not all people claim them to be. If they are the regular length version you most likely will hate the ride. They will have about an inch of down travel with 3 inches of lift. At least my saws were like that until i did a custom top plate. People do not recommend doing what i did, but i have wheeled the heck out of them and they seem to now be fine.

from my own experience i think the OME struts with 882s or 883 ride way nicer than my coilovers, and seem to be more reliable. They also seem to have just about the most travel, surprisingly the most expensive does not seem to be the best in this case. and JFYI the OME setup is about $450 new

Jason, Thanks for the insight, I'm running the OME set up on my Tacoma and couldn't be happier. Never owned a set of adjustable coilovers so I don't have much to go by other than what others have experienced. I have a set of LC coils for the rear I'd like to install, I know it will have a rake and I'm looking at getting as close to level as I can. I may just go with the OME in front or get the toytec coilovers, from what I understand when you have to "rebuild" the toytec coilovers you just replace the shock, don't have to send it out to get rebuilt like I would with the DR's.
