Don't door ding my ride.........??

Hey folks. I have been searching for and reading many post on sliders, and steps ect. The Question I have is do you feel these can protect the vehicle from door dings? My 4runner is lifted 3 inches but still no where out of the way from unwanted door taps! From all the post and pics I have seen I am not sure what will work to prevent it. I don't do any off roading so these would primarily be added just for protection from parking lot dings for me. So far from what i have seen, the budbuilt bump out option looks like they stick out the most?
Any help or info on this would be greatly appreciated.

This is why I got rock sliders even though I live in the city. If anyone opens their door next to my 4R and doesn't think about it they're going to find that my rig bites back hard. My sliders sit outside my door line for most cars out there since most are lower...

Sliders MAY prevent dings depending on the type of door that is being opened; the height of the vehicle in relation to your vehicle; the curvature of the door being opened, etc.

In other words; while no guarantee, it helps improve your odds.

If you are not planning on taking the truck off road, you could also consider running boards for the same reason.

I recently ordered BB full tread bump sliders and I'm hoping they'll serve the same purpose. Helps that they'll somewhat act as running boards too because I don't plan to do much offroading other than 14er trailheads until it's completely paid off.

I think we are stuck with the problem. Many cars have rear doors with an odd shape where the upper part will be the one to hit another car. Steps and sliders will help for front doors and straight doors, but not the curved ones.

I do hope my nFab steps will "get" someones straight door.

I irritate my passengers by parking farther out when possible due to this. I tell them the exercise is good for them.

Most sedan/minivan/crossover doors I've seen would hit the bb bumpouts even at stock height, so with a lift you have even more of a buffer zone. Of course like someone above said the cars that have rear doors with the big arches might clear the slider and hit your door.

Thank you guys for the good info. I actually do park way far away. Doesn't bother me at all to walk another 100 ft. To this day I have no dings 3 years later. However, at 90k miles on it, the 4 runner will soon be my kids ride ( I plan on buying another because I love so much), and it is at that point I worry about the crappy high school parking lot with goof ball kids opening doors into it. The body molding looks like a good option and not too distracting from the trucks overall appearance. Thank you for posting that link.

Well the sliders did good for the past 4yrs of protecting the doors for dings. Only to see a grocery shopping cart in front of my truck with this door ding right smack in the center of the front passenger side.

Wait til someone keys your 4runner, door dings won't seem like a big deal when you have intentional scratches. :sobbing:
