Don't forget the "A" Bolt!!!!!

So the top's been off my Runner for a couple weeks and Im loving it. But as always, Spring time in SC means rain here and there. Woke up and it was poring, so I to rush put the top on and only put six bolts on to save time. Jumped in the truck and headed down the road only to forget to roll my window up. Tried to put it up in transit and it wouldn't budge. Tried again when I parked and no joy. Had to leave it open during work and the carpet got soaked. Got home pulled her in the car port and went to work on the getting to the window parts. Everthing seemed to be connected, grounded, etc... WTF... Finally gave in and went to the owners manual and low and behold the "A" Bolt was the culprit. It never dawned on me that one of the bolts would be a "switch" so when the top is off you can't move the window, haha. Wow I feel like a moron... Anyway thought I would share my story.

is this the centre bolt on the ceiling that has the censor ? if not which bolt hole has the sensor ?

I only have 4 bolts for my canopy and this perfectly describes the problem im having.
it worked when i took it off and now wont go back up with the canopy on. and ive made sure the wiper was at full return

3rd from the back on the drivers side.

Might want to look into scoring some more bolts for that... 4 isn't really enough.

I never knew about this "required bolt". And my top currently isn't connected with every bolt.

But I bypassed that switch, and the other saftey switches the first week I had the 4runner :lmao:

So what happens when you accedentally hit the button and roll your window up while running down the road with the top off... Sounds like a nice surprise for the guy behind you when that thing catches the wind and snaps off...

I bought my truck from original owner who bought it in 1986 he never took the top off once I had it off the 2ed week.I had it lol

You can't accidently hit it, the switch is no longer at the front, removed. You can only roll it up and down from the key, from a switch on the inside edge near the rear deck light, or by the remote on the alarm system.

Ah I see, that makes more since than just simply bypassing the "a bolt switch"

It's the "B" bolt. Second bolt from the rear on driver's side. FSM has a great picture of it as does 4Crawlers's site.
