If they gave the original 99 4Runner an inch of lift, how is it that some people are getting almost 2 inches from them? And I realize for my truck it will be different because it's much lighter.

99's came either with the taller springs in the highlander model or not in the other models like base, SR5,limited, is my understanding.
also some years came with shorter springs. ( someplace there is a comparison chart and pics of the springs), thus making some years the car lower than others, thus depending on the year a person using 99 talls can pick up a different amount of lift depending on the year and model installed on.
for example, my 99 highlander wont gain anymore lift by installing 99 talls as that was "stock" for the highlander.

If you are interested I can dig up some numbers for you. I have before and after measurements for my 96. Granted, I'm a 4wd 4cyl but it should be pretty similar. I went 99 tall springs on Billy 4600s so essentially what you are talking about here.

For your needs a body lift may work better if your current suspension is OK. Choose the amount, 1/2 inch to 3.

One major advantage is the center of gravity is raised by 1/3 what is is with a suspension lift allowing for better handling.

If you ever get crazy and want more lift, then a suspension lift can be added to the body lift. Luck deciding...

That depends on milage on original coils, if you're at 200k+ mi it's time for new ones if your budget can handle it.
I'll second 99's and 4600's for your application.

Awesome, thank you. Those aftermarket parts seem very reasonably priced too. i like OEM but all of the sets I see for sale have almost 200k miles on em.

I got my 5th gen springs for super cheap with only a few thousand miles on them from this forum in the classifieds. 5th gen owners with a freshly upgraded suspension will let their onld parts go for usually pretty cheap just to move them out.

I have a set of 2010 5th gen OEM rear coils just laying here.. skyjacker engineers their coil spring rates specifically for your truck.

I believe they only net around 1” or maybe 2” if unloaded and not a lot of weight off the rear end. They also have a chance of falling out at full flex because they have such a shorter free height then 3rd gen ones. Which if you’re putting them on your 4wd (which you seem to be building out) would be less than ideal imo. Dobinsons c59-137v nets ~2” and a member here runs them and was a fan. That’s probably what I’m going to next as my 8 wraps were too tall without weight and the 5th gens are too short and don’t quite seat properly.

I can't figure out how to private message you back. You should get 1 to 1.5". It's a thicker coil for a heavier truck. Orange orange. Get rid of that sag ass! Just make me an offer I'm not greedy. You cover shipping. I'll send you picture and measurements if you want also.

You say you have 4" of lift with OEM 1999 long coils. How did you pull that off?? A little research says they would just add about an inch. Am I missing something in your post?

60 bones is all I paid. They were practically new.
