I have one thing to say...if you have a vehicle, and you dont know what you're doing yet still trying to fix it yourself, for the love of god, don't do it, don't touch it, don't even look at it!!!!!!!!!! I'll elaborate later. Lol

Ahahahhahaha! Uh-uh. This truck's mine and I'm the one who maintains and deals with all the issues it throws at me, learning how to in the process. Wouldn't have it any other way.

You gotta learn somehow. Take this lesson and share it in the forum with a write up. We all can benfit from a mistake or misunderstanding.

It's how we learn. I could use it. Even silly little write ups on how to take the dash off could help someone out!!!!!

LOL Alright....I bought my T4R private party, test drove it, everything ran ok. Guy said he never did anything to it. Well, about a week later, the check engine light comes on and it starts running like crap. I had barely drivin it except for around town. Well, being an auto tech, I dive into it replace the knock sensor. No big deal, right? It happens. So, I got the upper intake manifold off and start getting into the lower half and as I start disconnecting the injector harness from everything, there is a purple wire coiled up and spliced into part of the harness just tucked to nowhere. OH! I forgot to mention, when i bought the vehicle, I saw the heads had recently been done so I was like COOL! Lucky me! NOT! Anyways, as I start unplugging the harness, all but 2 injector plugs are pretty much destroyed, clips and all broken off so only about half of each plug was there. I start thinkin oh great, now I gotta get a new harness. WHich isnt too bad, I could get one at a local junkyard probably. But I was still irritated that whoever did the heads(AKA the previous owner) just ripped and pulled and busted whatever it took to get the job done, making me now know that what I thought was a great buy, wasnt. So, pissed off, I keep going, removing the fuel rails and injectors. As I pull the first injector out, the o-rings are shot and the plastic cup on the bottom is 75% gone...instantly making me furious that this guy knowingly screwed me over. But still, I continued to keep going, 2nd injector....3rd....4th....5th....6th.....ALL THE SAME PROBLEM!!!! And for all of you wondering, YES! at this point a wrench was thrown! lol Now, my not so expensive easy repair of what was first thought to be just a knock sensor, has now turned into all 6 injectors and a new injector harness, on top of what was just going to be the knock sensor(and/or pigtail) and a few gaskets. WHAT THE HELL!?!?!? And when i first bought I had to replace both CV Axles and all the front wheel bearings.
SO that's my story. and trust me guys I'm not against trying to fix things yourself, you gotta start somewhere and it is good to know that you could fix your vehicle on the trail if you have to. BUT!!!! NOT LIKE THAT!!! That is what is known as just a hack job. Even when I first started working on stuff in auto shop in high school, I would NEVER EVER have done anything like that. Let alone, knowingly sold the vehicle to someone knowing that you FUBARD it! COME ON HAVE SOME INTEGRITY!

Why did it run well for a week before you noticed there was something wrong? When I bought my T4R it was advertised as a rebuilt engine. I saw a new radiator and other superficial evidence that it had been "rebuilt". The guy I bought it from was using it for his roofing work, giving them transportation from job to job, etc. They were a group of White Russians. I had a roofing repair need. When I heard that they were roofers, I was excited. They repaired my roof and did other jobs on the house which I couldn't do. The story behind the rebuilding was that one of the employees had slammed the hood with something sitting on the radiator. Whatever, I realized after buying that it was an amateur who did the job. All the new gaskets leaked. That's the way it is with used cars. They are usually warranteed for no more than 30 days. I had a wagon I bought loose it's trainee after 6 months. After paying someone to rebuild it, a large truck struck me in the rear and totalled the vehicle. The insurance settlement did not cover what the car was valued given the work I had done.

i think it was because he barely drove it. so my few venture offroad in it started loosening the injector clips and such. who knows, it just blows to look something over so well and think you're getting a good deal and then gettin screwed over.

It's possible a tech at a shop hacked your truck, not the owner. Still sucks, though.
