Door lock question

I have replaced all door lock actuators within the last 2 years. It's a 2004 limited with only 97,000 miles. Now the driver side front and rear only sometimes respond to the remote and often won't respond to the button on the door. They both manually lock & unlock freely. It's odd that it's only the driver side I'm having an issue with. I can't figure this one out. Could it be that both actuators are bad? Or is there another issue? Called dealership that did the work and was told that the actuators are probably bad and of course they are out of the one year warranty period. Anyone else have this issue?

Do you use liquid filled air fresheners the stick into the vents? Toyota has released a TSB (T-SB-0101-11) for what causes most lock actuators to fail.

I had the same thing happen to my passenger rear door. Manually locks and unlocks but it's just inconvenient. I was looking for parts and the actuator part/assembly that I was looking at costs around $300-$400. I cannot justify spending that amount of money on a door lock actuator. I check junkyards and u-pull-it yards around my area and no one has any 4runners. Just goes to show you how awesome 4runners are! But would anyone know about there being any other electrical component/s that could have failed resulting in the actuator failure? I'm good with repairing electronics so if anyone has any background about it please let us know!!
